Monument City Capital

Building Opportunity Through Responsible Private Lending

Monument City Capital exists to help people build financial security and long-term legacy through disciplined, relationship-driven real estate lending. We help real estate entrepreneurs build businesses through responsible financing, while offering accredited investors access to a thoughtfully managed private real estate lending fund.

Connecting Capital With Opportunity

From the beginning, our business has been about more than making loans. It has been about using capital as a practical tool to help capable people move forward.

For Borrowers

Working with a lender who understands the realities of real estate investing from firsthand experience, someone who has borrowed hard money, managed renovations, and built portfolios.

For Capital Investors

Partnering with a manager committed to disciplined underwriting, first-lien lending, transparency, and responsible stewardship of investor capital.

By bringing these two groups together, Monument City Capital creates opportunities for both through a lending model grounded in experience, trust, and conservative judgment.

A Different Path to Lending

Monument City Capital was built on firsthand experience. Shaun Magner's journey began in residential construction and carpentry, where he developed an appreciation for real estate as more than numbers on a spreadsheet. Every property represented a physical asset, a neighborhood, a budget, a timeline, and a plan that had to be executed well.

In his early twenties, Shaun purchased his first rental property, taking his first step toward building a long-term real estate portfolio. Years later, in 2016, he completed his first fix-and-flip project, marking the beginning of a deeper commitment to building a real estate business of his own.

Like many investors, he learned the business one project at a time, by borrowing hard money, managing renovations, solving problems, and building long-term relationships. Over time, private lending became an essential tool for growing his own portfolio, shaping his perspective on what borrowers value most in a lending partner: speed, consistency, clear communication, and practical decision-making.

Those experiences ultimately led to the founding of Monument City Capital, built around real investing experience, local market knowledge, and a clear understanding of what it takes to complete successful real estate projects. Today, the company serves both borrowers and capital investors through a lending platform rooted in disciplined underwriting, first-lien lending, responsible stewardship, and long-term relationships.

The Principles That Guide Us

These principles guide every lending decision, every investor relationship, and every commitment we make.

Stewardship Comes First

Every decision we make carries someone else's trust. Whether it is a borrower relying on us to close on time or an investor entrusting us with their capital, stewardship begins with taking that responsibility seriously.

Discipline Drives Every Decision

Disciplined decision-making creates better long-term outcomes than chasing short-term growth. That means underwriting carefully, maintaining high standards, and having the conviction to walk away when a deal does not meet them.

Experience Shapes Our Perspective

Our perspective has been shaped by years in construction, real estate investing, and private lending. Combined with a deep understanding of Maryland and South-Central Pennsylvania, that experience helps us make better lending decisions.

Relationships Are Built on Trust

Long-term relationships are earned through honesty, consistency, and clear communication. We believe trust is built over time by doing what we say we will do and communicating openly along the way.

Investing Beyond Real Estate

Community impact is not separate from Monument City Capital's mission. It is an extension of it. We believe stronger communities are built by more than responsible capital. They are built by investing in people.

Shaun's connection to Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA and the Thaddeus Stevens Foundation reflects the same values that shaped Monument City Capital: craftsmanship, education, opportunity, and long-term investment in people. Through an endowed scholarship and Shaun's service on the Thaddeus Stevens Foundation Board, we support workforce development by investing in the next generation of skilled tradespeople and builders who strengthen the communities where we live and invest.
